Antony Woodland Garden is a 100‑acre riverside sanctuary along the Lynher Estuary near Torpoint, renowned as an International Camellia Garden of Excellence and home to the National Collection of Camellia japonica. Established adjacent to Antony House, it was shaped over decades around two main areas: The Wilderness and Westdown Wood, with plantings dating from the 1940s.
In spring, the woodland floor bursts into colour; snowdrops, primroses, bluebells, wild garlic, and campion, while towering Asiatic magnolias mingle with rhododendrons and azaleas, creating a truly immersive bloom. Wander along dappled paths to discover contemporary sculptures like Tim Shaw’s Green Man, secluded coves, lily ponds and historic features like the 18th-century bathhouse and Fishful Pond.
The garden is also a wildlife haven; oystercatchers, egrets, cormorants, grey herons, shelduck, and even kingfishers frequent the riverbank, while buzzards and kestrels glide overhead. Open February to October (dogs allowed on the Woodland Walk), the garden offers teas and coffees in the cozy Zinns coffee cabin.
A blissful mix of natural beauty, botanical excellence, and serene riverside atmosphere. Antony Woodland Garden is one of Cornwall’s best-kept secrets.
