As a walker, the South West Coast Path through the Rame Peninsula feels like a hidden gift. This isn’t the Cornwall of postcards and crowds — it’s wild, quiet, and utterly absorbing. Starting (or ending) at the Cremyll Ferry, you’re quickly into shaded woodland and open fields, with the path tracing the edge of the land above crashing waves and secret coves.
The route past Penlee Point and on to Rame Head is especially dramatic. Huge skies, steep cliffs, and that thrilling sense of being far away from it all. You pass ancient chapels, WWII lookouts and maybe a wild pony or two. Then it opens up to Whitsand Bay, where the views stretch forever and you can drop down to the beach for a rest (and maybe a paddle).
It’s challenging in places but always rewarding. If you love walking with the wind in your face and salt on your lips, this is your trail.
